REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION @GCTE 🇮🇳

Republic Day marks the adoption of India's constitution and the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950. Every year, the celebrations marking the day feature spectacular military and cultural pageantry. In New Delhi, armed forces personnel march along the Kartavya Path in an elaborate display of military might. The epic show on Kartavya Path eclipses everything else happening across the country on this auspicious day.

On 26th January 2024, the Government College of Teacher Education celebrated the 75th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The event took place in the college premises, where the students, faculty, and staff gathered to mark the occasion.The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the principal in the presence of all the attendees. The tricolor flag fluttered proudly atop the flagpole, symbolizing the unity and sovereignty of the nation.

To showcase the diverse culture and heritage of India, students were dressed in traditional attire of different states in India. They presented various cultural performances such as folk dances, songs representing their respective states.The performances were appreciated by the audience and added a vibrant atmosphere to the celebration.

In addition to the cultural performances, the college had organized various competitions related to Republic Day.The winners of these competitions were felicitated with prizes by the principal and teachers. This gesture not only encouraged the students' participation but also recognized their efforts and talents.

The 75th Republic Day celebration at the Government College of Teacher Education was a memorable and meaningful event, fostering a sense of pride and patriotism among the students and faculty. It served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the progress India has achieved over the past 75 years.

PONGAL @ GCTE 🎇🎉

Pongal is regarded as one of the most important festivals in South India especially celebrated in Tamil Nadu. In northern region of India, it is celebrated as Makar Sankranti. It occurs in the winter, according to the Hindu calendar, when the sun sets on the southernmost point of the hemisphere and begins its journey back to the northern one. The festival of Pongal is celebrated for four day so it will begin on January 15 and ends on January 18, 2024.

For Tamilians, Pongal festivities are very important. Tamil Nadu residents firmly think that this month, which is known as Thai month, brings about beneficial changes in their lives and helps them overcome their issues. This is the time of year when rice, sugarcane, and turmeric are harvested. This month is seen to be fortunate for engagements, marriages, and all other religious and spiritual endeavours.

On January 16, 2024, the G.C.T.E (Government College of Teacher Education) celebrated the auspicious festival of Pongal with great enthusiasm and joy. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Nainar Sir, a retired professor from the prestigious University College.

The celebrations began with the felicitation of Kumar Sir.The day was filled with various cultural programs. To add more excitement to the festivities, several games were organized, engaging everyone in a spirited atmosphere.

 As part of the Pongal celebrations, a kolam competition was also organized. Students and faculty members showcased their creativity and artistic skills by beautifully designing intricate kolams using rice flour. The competition added a visual treat to the event and emphasized the significance of kolam in Tamil tradition.
